Hello world!

This post addresses why Yoga is needed for the general population more than ever.

In these crazy Covid times, the need for Yoga has become even more evident and essential to keep body, mind and spirit in balance. The number of people suffering with mental health issues is increasing dramatically and we’re still very much in the midst of a pandemic. Did you know that after the second World War many people has nervous breakdowns? Not during, but after! When the body and mind slows down and processes what’s happened, just like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

During the first phase of lockdown, many people also became more sedentary. This resulted in weight gain and aches and pains through lack of movement. The physical asana part of yoga really helps with this. It can be as gentle or athletic as you like – you’ve just got to find the right style and teacher for your needs.

The ‘mind’ aspect of a yoga class is also important as it gives somewhere to place your focus, away from everyday problems and challenges.

For the spiritual aspect, you will find some classes more geared towards this than others. As we begin to breathe properly (which we don’t tend to in daily life) the access into a meditative state becomes more easy. Once this happens, you really are benefiting mind, body and spirit.
