Excursion To Hampi a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE.

19TH -22ND JANUARY 2022

This excursion is an optional 4 day extra to our Goa Adventures Retreat 12th-19th January 2022. For anyone wanting to experience a little more of India, Hampi is situated in the neighbouring state of Karnataka and is an ancient city dotted with numerous ruined temple complexes from the Vijayanagara Empire. On the south bank of the Tungabhadra River, one of the top tourist attractions is the 7th-century Hindu Virupaksha Temple, near the revived Hampi Bazaar. A carved stone chariot stands in front of the huge Vittala Temple site. UNESCO has considered this temple as a World Heritage Site, as a part of Hampi Group of Monuments.

Hampi is a wonderland. The place is like an open museum – you just have to explore the place at your own pace and discover its charm. And be ready to get surprised even at nondescript places; because even in ruins, Hampi is charismatic.

ITINERARY

Outbound train Howrak Express 18048 from Vasco da Gama station in Goa at 07:10 arriving Hospet junction at 14:55.

Transfer to our proposed Guesthouse which is 15km away. There is a direct bus from Hospet or we will more likely take tuk tuks/taxis to our accommodation.  From there it takes 20 mins to reach the major temples, rickshaws have the reputation of being expensive (by Indian standards), but there is a bus which stops just in front of the hostel.

*THE PLACE IS QUITE REMOTE AND PEACEFUL, SO GREAT IF YOU WANT TO GET BACK SOMEWHERE QUIET AFTER THE CROWDS!

We have late Sunday afternoon, Monday & Tuesday to explore, then return back to Goa early Wednesday morning

Return train Amaravati Express 18047 from Hospet Junction Wednesday 22nd January 06:30 arriving Vasco da Gama 15:00
